Native New Yorker Rebecca Kruysman has always been fascinated with beauty, art, and detail, having studied fine arts and film production in college. She first came to The Institute for help treating her acne and is now a full-fledged Skinovator.
WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS?
Right now, I’m learning Italian. I also love to travel, and recently visited Cyprus and Argentina. I’m infatuated with Buenos Aires.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT AT THE INSTITUTE?
I like to read. My favorite authors are Paul Auster, Patti Smith, and Salman Rushdie. Sometimes, I go to the movies at the Angelika or Film Forum. I love to explore the city, and I’ve lived in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. I also have an affinity for Coney Island in the off season, and I love people watching in Brighton Beach.
WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF BEING A SKINOVATOR?
I love getting to play with all these different technologies and machines. They all demand a certain level of skill, and once you’re proficient, you can get creative. It’s both fun and rewarding to see a client’s whole look transform.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF DANGENE'S SKINCARE PHILOSOPHY?
I love the multi-modality approach. We address the skin from the inside out. It’s artistic, compassionate, and forward-thinking.
WHAT ABOUT YOUR OWN SKINCARE PHILOSOPHY?
Keep it simple—but be diligent. I now know what works for my skin, specifically what will keep it happy. I don’t use superfluous products, and I always keep up with my treatments. I refuse to blindly follow skincare trends because I’m breakout-prone and sensitive, and that would be disastrous!
WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS ABOUT DANGENE AND THE SKINOVATORS?
I was an acne client in my early 20s and Dangene and the Skinovators transformed my skin. At the time, it felt like a leap of faith to put my face in the hands of people who had such an unusual approach to acne treatment and skincare. I had to trust that they would be able to help me, unlike the dermatologists’ offices and spas I’d been to which did nothing for my condition or worse, exacerbated the problem. It’s very evident that the team here cares about their clients and takes pride in what they do. I’m privileged to be a part of that now as a Skinovator.
