Meet Lily Agosto: the Institute’s dynamic bundle of energy, who possesses an artist’s eye for detail and perfection.
We are introducing you to Lily as part of our ongoing series spotlighting the unique talents and personalities of our Skinovators.
Tell us about your background and education?
It all started when I was a kid. I loved giving my friends makeovers, totally changing their appearance. Naturally, I grew up to become a makeup artist, working primarily in the film and cosmetics industry.I soon realized so many people don’t know how to care for their skin, and healthy skin is beautiful skin. After attending a class at the Institute, I was so inspired by Dangene that I made it my goal to earn my aesthetics license and work with her. I enrolled in the Aveda Institute for Esthiology, my dream came true!
What excites you about anti-aging treatments at the Institute?
I love seeing the way treatments transform the client’s skin in an instant. Microdermabrasion polishes the skin right before my eyes! I can actually see the skin cells revive through stimulation and removal of dead skin and impurities. And dermaplaning puts me in a Zen-like place of intense concentration.
What is your philosophy about skincare?
Taking care of your skin is like physical exercise, like yoga, which I practice. It requires maintenance and vigilance. You never reach the finish line when you reach your goals. Everything must be maintained to evolve, gracefully, especially considering that all skin changes over time.
What do you like to do when you’re away from the Institute?
I love playing with my six-year-old daughter Ava Rose. She’s a Scorpion Princess who won’t leave the house until she “feels like a rock star.” Being with her and watching her grow reinforces my own personal philosophy that aging is a privilege; getting old is optional; and beauty is all around us.
